The video conferencing session between the two schools was conducted between students of Gyan Mandir Public School (Delhi, India) and Adamjee Model School (Karachi, Pakistan). The session was coordinated by Ms Anju Anand and Ms Devika Mittal from Indian side and Mr Usama Palla and Ms Suraya Islam from Pakistan. We're grateful they let us drop by!
The British tasked Cyril Radcliffe with the job of drawing a line to separate Punjab and Bengal provinces from India into East and West Pakistan. Muslims and Hindus weren’t the only ones being separated from each other. Sikhs and people from other faiths were affected as well.
A Sikh pilgrimage was divided because of the new border, Punjabi people of all faiths were separated from each other, and a culture was ultimately divided.
This Vox Borders episode looks at how the Radcliffe line changed Punjab and how communities are affected now.

  • Hi everyone. I hope you liked Ep1! If you want some behind the scenes on Vox Borders, become a member of the Video Lab. This Thursday I'll be doing a live Q&A with the whole Borders team to talk about how we make these episodes: Also, Borders producer Christina Thornell's video recommendations are available to watch in the Lab now, as are a bunch of goodies from past seasons. Go check it out!

    • Gandhi said that a Hindu state can have a Muslim majority Kashmir and they kept Kashmir in India but now we can clearly see that Quaid e Asam was right with two state theory Hindu can never live with. Muslim or any other minority because it's RSS that Hindustan only belongs to Hindu.......that is ethnic cleansing like hitler did.........

    • Now come to Pakistan to cover second side of story, sikhs rapes 300000 Muslim young women's, murdered 1.5 million men, captured our 200000 young Muslim women and forcefully change their religion from Muslim to sikhs, this is also not happen ever in history of entire world

    • Please correct map of INDIA. J&K is INDIAN state.

    • Do not pretend it is the politics that has created two countries. Name a single country where Muslims are majority with Minority people living happily with them. Just name one such country.

  • Most of India doesn't have anything to do with Punjab/kashmir or Pakistan. Just saying. Because I am from SOuth india and here Muslims, Hindus and Christians live peacefully together. Most of the hindu- muslim conflict is actually between North indians and pakistanis.😊

  • Why did they decide to split up the subcontinent in the first place?

  • Mdrcd mullas

  • Pakistan have opened boarder for our Sikh brothers unlike violent take of Indians against Muslim minorities. After 70 years partition is looking the best option at that time.

  • And now the corridor has been completed 🙏

  • Dad gave the world borders ,son is giving democracy and freedom !

  • visit pakistan

  • Kosovo, bosnia, sirya, lybia, korea, holly land, india. Where ever those democrats liberals and human right fighters guys go there is problems for dacades and centurys to come. Love india, serbs will come to help if it comes to that

  • Uk You Broke Hindustan For Moseleems .. Do not Worry Moselems will Break you UK Very Soon

  • Who is watching in 2019 November you should also show the place where Indian poor army drop there payload and destroyed our Trees and Abhinandhan with fantastic tea 👌 😂😅🤣

  • Please dont similate Pakistani politicians with indian politicians Pakistans politicians are not with war

  • I loved your video. I won’t lie, it did make me cry but politicians can be a one reason for the violence and animosity but what would one say to... 26/11 Terror attacks or Pulwama, Pathankot and many other terror attacks, of which the responsibility was taken by Pakistan based terror groups...

  • *PKMKB* !!!

  • With this partition , British had the last laugh ... And that laugh is so louuuuudddddd that it still resonate today and will resonate in future too ... ...... and our Politicians relish on thw plight of people . Due to this partition on the basis of religion, which was actually a failure , many people become "refugees" in their own land , Hindusthan , that was broke into pakistan and India. The plight and pain of partition is only faced by bengal and punjab , but no other states. We never cared about the plights of those hindu Refugee brothers , the live example of this is 12-13 lakh hindu brothers in assam excluded from NRC list. All are related.

  • We have power to rejoin our religion and relationships with every religion but we have to stand together boldly and must understand each other with respect... Thank you so much for making such documentary ..

  • Leaders just take advantage of the aspirations of public. So it is false that only leaders wanted partition. Quran particularly is responsible, Indian origin religions never wanted partition but settled with partition after violence caused in many riots started under "direct action day".

  • New video

  • Same things happened with Bengal too!

  • Hatsoff man, you did amazing works.Really amazing.

  • When I meet Pakistanis abroad, feel the brotherhood. When in India we worry about the hatred with which the Pakistanis are brought up, and culture of politics

  • I was charged $1 while signing up with promo code "borders" as preauthorisation charges, which is INR72 in Indian currency. Apparently the first 31 days so called "trial" isn't really a trial or free..! Don't fall for it guys.. I did like the video though, but disappointed! Had to pay 30% charges, 🙄and i don't even have the time to watch these documentaries right now..

  • Request you to update the incorrect "BFS" with the correct "BSF" at 14:26

    • Yes, make indian map without kashmir.

  • Wait this weird border ritual shows takes place every evening???? 5:25

  • I love this photography and background sounds....

  • Thanks to Pakistan and Indian government the corridor has been opened for Indian sikhs to visit kartarpur temple. 🙏🙏🙏

  • And the Kartarpur Corridor is a reality now

  • Now Katarpur Border has been opened as a symbol peace among both countries

  • Pakistan have now opened kartarpur for our sikh brothers

  • Who is here after opening of kartarpur corridor?

  • Who's here after Pakistan opens up Kartarpur Corridor today to allow Indian Sikh Pilgrims visa-free access to this site :)!

  • Pakistan has resolved issue of Sikhs 😇

  • did nobody catch when that dude pulled out a bunny sign unexpectedly at 16:24

  • its made

  • U olny show the Indian side nd views u should show the Pakistan view in same video

  • 1:30 CONGRATULATIONS! THE DAY HAS COME; PAKISTAN HAS OPENED KARTARPUR CORRIDOR FOR OUR DEAR SIKHS. On 9th November 2019-the same date when Berlin wall fell-Pakistan has opened the Kartarpur side border for sikhs pilgrims and have given them visa free access to Pakistan to visit their sacred site. Now sikhs can visit site without even visa via kartarpur corridor. Hope this is the new dawn of peace between neighbours and Hope we can live peacefully-without those fences between borders. I hope one day we will fight with poverty instead of each other. This should have been done long ago but better late than never. I Hope this will heal some of wounds of traumatic events of partition. Again congratulations to our dear sikhs now you don’t need binoculars to see your holy place you can visit here. Welcome 🙏🏻 :) -A Pakistani

  • Any Pakistani watching this I just want to tell you❤ we need to change this and we can do this. Guys just don't spread hatred 💔

  • And the credit goes to Britishers and MD Ali Jinnah

    • Alhamdulilah I am happy with that

  • You never explained why two nations were created, what and who led to the formation of two countries?

  • One of my grandmas brother was shot, cut into pieces when he tried to go back to release the animals as the house was burning while migrating. Yeah it was British's fault? Nope it was the mentality of the Bangladeshis. It was his childhood friend. Lol yeah just blaming to British won't change the fact that people were that cruel. No hatred towars my neighborring countries though.... Because we need to forgive and let go. I hv made lots of friends from Bangladesh and they are kind and helpful.

  • And Today Kartarpur corridor reopens 🙏

  • Outstanding narrative, insights, empathy. Respect from India.

  • Johnny Do you know the condition of Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan ???? buddy its worse and Muslims in India are living royal life here in Hindu majority India, unlike Pakistan

  • Pray for the day shashi tasoor word will become true one day and india and pakistan will again one country

  • I hate British people

  • It was indeed a chaotic time and we can keep blaming the Brits, the Hindus, the Muslims all day long. But that does not help. What's gone is gone. This history is too complex to conclude in a couple of sentences. The question that we should be asking is it worth taking forward? Has hatred ever helped anyone? I believe that both countries would have prospered even more if only we subsided the anger and hatred and had more courage to forgive and respect each other. Blaming politicians does not help too. You need to ask yourself who appointed the leader of my country. The first step towards change is accepting that change can take place.

  • If India Pakistan Bangladesh and South-East Asain(ex-countries) unite then they will show the world whose the boss😎😎

  • After watch this i haven't words, I just Subscribed and left with wishes from India for Spread the message of humanity beyond the line on paper.

    • Or isme jo incomplete map dikhaya vo accept krega tu ?

  • Pakistan zindabad ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰

  • Superb b..

  • There's a lot of good things behind the conflict

  • Who wants India and Pakistan to reunite again ?

  • You know nothing Jon snow

  • So it's the brits faults
