PSA: Don’t Shave Your Pomeranian

Опубликовано: 24 окт 2020
Sure, the Boo cut is cute... but at what cost? Double coated dogs need both layers of their coat. If it is properly maintained (which isn’t easy!) they can stay looking great.

  • It’s gonna be cold af when it’s outside in cold weather...

  • Some owners dont care and just ask for it anyway some it is just no other option because they are so matted. It is also very irritating when they complain saying "are you refusing to give me service?" For me its an endless and complicated cycle because people rather stay ignorant than properly care for their dogs.

  • Adorable dog:i still look cute though Me:awwwwwwew💖🥺💕

  • My mom has two of these and they both get very knotted. What can I do?

  • Great job!

  • To all you ignorant fucking groomers who shave huskies and aussies and Pomeranians and GOLDEN RETRIEVERS YES EVEN GOLDEN RETRIEVERS! If THE DOG SHEDS IN CLUMPS HE IS PROBABLY A DPUBLE COATED DOG WHICH MEANS HE CANNOT REGULATE HIS TEMPERATURE IF YOU SHAVE HIM. Groomers, TELL THE OWNERS THIS, OWNERS: stop asking to shave your dog!!!!! Do your fucking research!

  • Good to know

  • 😔😔😔

  • Damn did not know that* food for thought.

  • We have a Pomeranian little girl daughter when she was 7 weeks old and she's now two and a half. We take her in to get groomed, we took him to a different store and they chopped her up it was dark we went home not realizing it until we got home that's a 45 minute drive. We brought her back in and the manager took one look, she took her and evened her hair the best she could do. It took around 8 months to her hair to grow out. My little girl is a Teddy Bear Pomeranian I want her to have the ful main around her face. She gets broom about every 8 months we live in snow country so we do not have our gym very much this time of year during the summer High desert movie 90 and we cut it down but not like not a zero more like a eight thank you for explaining this a lot of people cuz I had to Learn it by the mistake.

  • Meanwhile, people dying cos no clean drinking water, but just keep paying people to groom dogs...No wonder tjis world is so screwed. Navel-gazing.

  • You still look though yh dogy.I just hope it grow back soon x

  • Probably should be checked for a thyroid issue too 😳

  • that's an unfortunate username

  • Why the hell would ANYONE shave a dog ,,,bloody humans . ..

    • You know there are dog breeds who needs to be shaved? Like poodles or other breeds with hair....not fur. The hair on these breeds would grow and grow and grow, until it would be matted and cause the dogs extreme discomfort and even pain.

  • Oh noo poor dog

  • If someone “accidentally” shaved my dog, I would be pissed off.

  • Poor baby and she still seems to be smiling love that dog 🐶

  • The opposite?!!! 100% false!!

  • Who ever did this should be sued

  • Poor baby

  • I think she may be mixed

  • He is Soo cute 😍

  • Awww

  • Get her a jojo jacket, she need sum jojo's bizarre adventure

  • That poor dog

  • Your very good at what you do and you treat them very good!!!

  • I have a dachshund with the worst case of soft fur that grows way to fast and tangles so quickly. We have to shave her in the summer because she gets so insulated her furs like a sponge. Also ya don’t shave your Pom.

  • Idk bout you guys but she looks so cute! 🥰

  • So cute 🥰

  • The (she said:I still look cute doe)that got me omg I started laughing

  • Thank you!!! We have owned Pom's for 21 years and the only time we ever shaved one of our babies was when he had severe skin allergies & diabetes. He still-life to be 14& 1/2-yrs old!! Never shave a pom! Their fur is Their beauty!!!!!

  • Cute 🥰

  • She is so cute!!!!

  • We have a GP and it kills me to see ppl shave their coats thinking they’re doing them a favor. Get a poodle if you don’t like hair 🤷‍♀️

  • Instead of shaving your dog, why don't you shave your cat (not your actual cat but reference to something referred to as your cat)?

  • You are so adorable puppies and I mean all puppies including this one

  • My husky had her belly and small spots on her front paws shaved for surgery. We've had her for 2 months and her hair is still not fully grown back in the spots she was shaved. It takes FOREVER for the coat to fully grow back, but it's looking better

  • I would have been p*ssed!!

  • Why is it panting like that??

  • Miscommunication? Seriously? like what part of SHAVE MY DOG was misunderstood?

  • Oh no.....

  • So hold on you would rather me let my dog get heat stroke than cut its hair BTW sped aloecia x is hair loss with no known cause its a health issue that severely affects poms from ages 1 to 10 not because the hair was shaved

  • Our vet told us melatonin helps with hair growth. And it worked.

  • looks mangey

  • O sweetheart my groomer kind a did the same thing my golden doodles but it grew more better I decided since she never listened to me I do it at home myself I invested some money for equipment and all they are the happiest puppies on earth no roblem

  • Idk man , this dog looks like yeontan

  • No stop it reccomended stop showing me cute dog videos I get more jealous every day

  • I want.

  • Hope her hair grow back they are beautiful ☺️

  • “Ish still lok cute do” 🥺☺️

  • Honestly, the only issue I have had with the groomer for my Yorkie is that she always keeps the ears long even though we have specified not to. Seeing the video makes me feel like I have nothing to complain about. 😅😆

    • @Rissa Faith You too!❤️

    • @Clover Field no prob! happy thanksgiving by the way!🧡🦃

    • @Rissa Faith I feel the exact same about my yorkie! Not a show pup, just a silly goose. Thanks for the tip about the ears!

    • it’s okay to have specifications when seeing a groomer, i have a havanese and they’re known for having long silky coats in dog shows but since ours isn’t a show dog we keep his hair short so he doesn’t get mats or sticker burrs stuck in his hair, it’s all about knowing what is good and bad for the dog, keeping the ear hair short on a yorkie is actually a good thing and you might wanna go to a different groomer if they don’t cut the hair shorter. yorkies tend to have more oil secretion and if the hair around the ears is longer it can lead to ear infections due to dirt, oil, and wax buildup :)

  • She is still cute though 🥰

  • So precious!! And still adorable, hair or not!!

  • Lol yeah soooooo cute😜😜😜😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💓😘🤩😘

  • We used to shave our Golden Retriever. She swam in the summer. Too much hair and allergies used to cause hot spots. Her hair always grew back by winter.

    • My dog needs shaving over the summer because of his allergies

  • Poor babyyyy😭😭😭.....he doesn't even know he doesn't have hair...soo innocent 😭😭😭

  • Poor dog I hope it grows all the hair.

  • It looks like the devil's spawn

  • Poms are beautiful dogs if you brush them regularly, sad someone shaved poor Chanel, hope her coat grows back ok.

  • Umm i have a Belgian shepard and their hair can take 3 years to grow back fully

    • @Skye Hook they truely are mines a drama queen and alway guilt trips people

    • You lucky! I had one once & didn't get to keep it. They are wonderful!

  • She’s adorable!!💗💗

  • So true, my grandma adopted a old lil pom who had extremely matted fur from the previous owner. The only way to get rid of it was to shave it all off. We all called her Kiwi because her Fur felt like a kiwi.

  • That one hair on its eye

  • Yes 👍🏾 she does Cutie 🥰 Pie

  • No dog or animal that has long fur should be shaved.

  • I love dogs

  • I have a Pomeranian/Shi Tzu mix (mom was also a Pomeranian/Shi Tzu mix, dad was pure Shi Tzu) and my nana keeps shaving her beautiful golden brown curly hair and I don't really like it. It used to grow so long and turn a beautiful shade of dark brown that made her look like a raccoon. Now it hardly grows very long anymore. Did all that shaving stop the hair growth? It just stays short all the time

  • Can you shave a Pomeranian Siberian husky mix?

  • The dog probably has alopecia and it’s not diagnosed or a thyroid issue. If a Pomeranian is shaved as long as the dog is healthy the hair will grow back I have been shaving one Pomeranian for the last 10 years of her life and I swear she almost grows back thicker! It has nothing to do with the shaving you have to to do with the health of the dog and obviously this dog has something going on. Pomeranians are notorious for alopecia.

  • U should dress her up for winter, poor baby

  • Thank god I’m getting an xolo

  • Fuckin dumbasses some people have dogs tio show off, to make them sell look good not cuz they care about them guys

  • The pomeranian: Chill with what's happening My shih-tzu: Jumps all over us and doesn't wanna get his haircut

    • @Shelby My dog walks behind his groomer(on a leash of course) and when he gets to the room tries to sprint out but of course can't

    • I have a Pom and shih-tzu too but they both don’t like haircuts the shih-tzu is old and the Pom is younger and they both hate it

  • THANK YOU for trying to educate people on double coated dogs- especially Pomeranians. There will still be those ones who won’t listen and mistreat their dogs but short of taking them from them nothing can be done to make them treat them correctly. That poor baby, I would have punched those groomers right in the face had they shaved my Pom.

  • She is cute and beautiful bald, hairy or patchy lol

  • If you buy, others will die!!

  • Bellissimo

  • Poor baby. If she were human she'd be suing that other groomer.

  • i shaved my pomeranian and this didnt happen tho lmao

    • @hangin j we've been doing this for 10+ years, lol. he's already nearing the end of his life as he's an older dog. we didn't shave him BALD. we got him because he was a stray. we don't pick dogs for their coats, we pick them because they need help.

    • For now. It will eventually cause damage. Also, their skin isn’t designed to comfortably handle regrowing fur so quickly. The regrowth is uncomfortable and ingrown hairs become increasingly more likely. If you can’t maintain a healthy coat, why did you get a coated dog?

    • @Cassandra White in order to keep track of his weight, in order to keep him clean (he was getting things caught in his fur, like brambles and burrs and poop, even). his hair grows back fine every single time.

    • Why would you do that???

  • She/he still does look cute

  • poor baby, miscommunication or not, a groomer should know not to shave a pom especially that short, not dog should be shaved that short

    • @Kait D.T.A.N if you take my responses as making you feel dumb that’s a personal problem, im simply telling you it’s not as simple as you think, and regardless, you’re still wrong about poms that’s all i’m saying. and yeah you were rude you called that other person a sad human being for replying to you on thanksgiving cause she had nothing better to do, seems like you have nothing better to do either so why don’t you stop arguing and kindly stfu?

    • @Rissa Faith I was hardly being rude. And in fact I do watch Rovers makeovers grooming. And that is why I said that dogs would have to be shaved for those instances because if any longer blade cannot get underneath the mats, she has had to use shorter blades that she doesn’t like using. And for surgeries they have to shave them as close as possible to prevent hairs from going in and causing any infections. I really don’t see how anything I’ve said warranted both you and the girl before to try to make me seem like the dumb one. All I was literally saying is there are instances where the dogs would have to do shaved that short. Not that that dog had, and I’ve seen poms shaved before plenty of times and grew their hair back perfectly fine. Now I’m not saying that you should shave a pom, all I’m saying is maybe that was an inexperienced groomer and they fucked up and it ended up hurting the dog in the process. Shit happens, at least the dog didn’t die. Plenty of dogs have died at the groomers due to those blow dryer enclosed cages (not like rovers) so I mean as long as the dog is still healthy and alive, I don’t see why people have made that shit such a big deal. I’ve said my peace. You go on having a wonderful day and wonderful life, I hope it’s filled with happiness. Goodbye.

    • @Kait D.T.A.N yeah actually, depending on what needs to be done, my sister’s dog has had back surgery twice and they laid her belly up as well. also no, if you knew what you were talking about, you’d know that poms are prone to alopecia and their hair does NOT grow back easily. in fact it takes a very long time to grow back if ever. and i think you should check out Rover’s Makeovers grooming channel to understand what i meant. when i said no dog should be shaved that short, i did not say no dog should ever be shaved. what i meant was the length, no dog should ever be shaved by a groomer to the point where their skin is exposed where it normally wouldn’t be exposed. this dog’s hair was shaved shorter than half an inch which is no healthy for any dog and thus caused alopecia. this can also cause LOTS of skin problems no matter the breed. also i said get off your high horse cause you were being rude to someone else for no reason.

    • @Rissa Faith so you’re telling me, a dog having back surgery doesn’t require them to shave the dogs back? I’ve seen poms shaved before and their coats grow back completely fine, same with all double coated dogs. I also did not say a client asked for the dog to be shaved or anything. But a lot of people don’t want their dogs shaved and don’t notice their dog is severely matted, so it just makes sense that the groomer does right by the dog, as I’ve said. Again, I am not on a high horse, you had said “no dog should be shaved that short” implying not just that Pomeranian. I pointed out instances where dogs would have to be shaved. Don’t see why you’re trying to argue the same shit when it has been over and done with. Man, you kids really don’t have anything better to do with your lives huh?

    • @Kait D.T.A.N also groomers do not have to shave a matted dog, groomers are not obligated to do anything a client asks if it’s not good for the dog which they learn in grooming school. quit being a dick for no reason, your argument was pulled out of your ass when nobody was talking about anything you’re talking about

  • Yeah shaving actually makes them shed more i think you have to brush the d9gs for maybe hours

  • however pomeranians look cute I have one baby boy😊

  • I say she still cute tho too

  • We have a pomeranian that comes into our salon and looks a lot like this girl - unfortunately the owners have been shaving her all her life, so her coat is far beyond repair, but she's a sweetheart. Thanks for the PSA - it's so important for double coated dogs to be maintained properly!!

  • This isn adorable and happy little doggie. I hope her coat grows back soon!!

  • You can shave hairy dogs (think non shedders), but this is a furry dog!

  • What a cute doggy! I love her fluffiness

  • I had one but she died on January 8 she was a fur breed Pomeranian

  • THANK YOU! I see so many people who shave their double coated dogs...

  • What an idiot! If you're groomer you should know that! I'm not. I don't know much about grooming at all. But I know that. How sad!

  • My dad shaved out dog and I was mad to it because he is a border collie and he had a really nice coat he stoped shaving him because our neighbors asked if he had cancer and our dog looked like a cow

  • Awe cute pup...poor thing..i hope she did something about that! He looks happy and healthy tho. That's what's important.

  • Bless his heart ♥️ he looks happy as ever tho ♥️

  • Yes! She is still cute 😍

  • U only trim not shave. Poor baby not having the hair grow back. That can be irritating. She’s seems happy though.

  • O. That's sad.
