  • Fuck Jay Leno.

  • elevacity.com/kelsialexis

  • That's politics. If you don't want the microscope don't get into the game. She was a consenting adult at time and she should have known the risks, just like leaving a comment on RU-tv. It's great to see that she made it through all of that. And yes when I was 22 I was stupid too.

  • Big fan of the show but why didn’t John apologize to her face to face for his own comments about her? Seems like a cop-out.

  • Wow, Monica is still really beautiful.

  • Lewinsky is amazing. What a long way she’s come.

  • I know that's Monica Lewinsky, but I keep thinking Emma Stone...

  • I think she is funny and confident. And I admire that she didn't change her name...Bill didn't, Hillary either.

  • "Let ye without sin...cast the first stone!"...Jesus...as he was defending Mary Magdalene.

  • I have more respect for her than the female who sucked off Donald Trump.

  • Public shaming is a communist weapon.

  • The only reason why I know about Monica is because I learned about it in my history class. Now, knowing what she actually went through I think history classes should take more time to teaching the full picture of a major event.

  • Well done, Monica. Well done, John.

  • Damn, that is one boss ass bitch. Happy women’s month.

  • I hope Monica reads these comments - overwhelmingly positive.

  • She had an affair with the president of the united states, she doesn't get to pretend that she's shocked that it turned into a scandal. The opposition parties are always out for blood.

  • I have no idea who that woman is. After watching the video I still have no idea who that woman is. I read the wikipedia article and now I'm confused. Is two adults having sex illegal in 'muricas?

  • Now liberals are finally getting tired of it?... Once a few of them go down they think, oh wait this may be going to far f@#$off

    • Hahaha, you said “go down”

  • This is another great piece. This should be followed up with Jon Ronson's book (or audiobook) "So You've Been Publicly Shamed", which is pretty amazing.

  • If John Oliver says "You're funny!" Damn straight better believe that you are.

  • Damn 193 rap song she’s a legend lol

  • #tuckercarlsondidnothongwrong

  • Looking forward to 10 years from now when someone tears John a new one for his BS

  • 32 incoming quickly and still an idiot.

  • I agree with most of this but what tucker Carlson said was taken a bit out of context and I think most of what he said was wrong but I think it also shows that he is passionate about his political views , and I think we shouldn’t be mad at him for that although a bit of hate is fair , but for the most part tucker Carlson is a pretty good guy and I really don’t think he deserves as much hate as he gets.

  • I never understood what the big fuckaroo around this event was for people, and it seemed odd to me at the time, though I didn’t consciously understand why, that it was titled by her name. “Clinton scandal” works fine, but, instead, it was all about Monika. Her name, her face, her acts... It’s a perfect example of the sexism around sex acts made public. Somehow men are congratulated, or let off the hook, but women are shamed. We are, in most human societies, really fucked up around sexuality.

  • Love seeing Oliver being so sincere and caring in that interview with Monica. Under the satire is a truly great human that hopes only for a sense of courtesy and respect and acknowledgement of human truths that we all know to be there, no matter what anyone else tries to fights against

  • Deep

  • Bangladesh?

  • #fuckjayleno

  • Dude she's so wonderful and clever, you can tell she's a very mentally strong person, especially to even humor people about the event that destroyed her life at the time. Well poised too, fuck yeah Monica ✊

  • What do Lewinsky and a vending machine have in common?

  • No more reporters. Only vultures. Vultures actually help their environment though. Sorry vultures that was rude of me.

  • elevacity.com/kelsialexis

  • John Oliver challenge accepted: I be on my jet skis in the west Keys getting head by Monica Lewinsky's......

  • Myspace is dead My ...... Space ...space outer ...space ...doubter ? My dead space my doubt place ...in space ?

  • So...the stockades are a bust?

  • From my own personal experience I sympathize with what she went through. Everyone makes mistakes but the consequences for those mistakes needs to be justified. In her case it wasn't justified.

  • John Oliver is not the guy to give a PSA on public shaming. He makes his living shaming people and even admits to shaming Monica. No amount of back tracking will change the hypocrisy of this.

  • Complete respect. Complete and total respect.

  • Great episode. Such an intelligent woman, and really inspiring!

  • Lewinsky, if you can't handle the heat get the fuck out of the kitchen. You deserved everything you got. Bill deserved the jokes he got too.

  • as a current 24 year old, I was never really coherent when all this stuff with Monica started. Growing up, my christian mother (who was cheated on by my father when I was young) made Monica out to be basically the devil, and guys like Jay Leno would reinforce this mindset, so I always just assumed that to be the case. I was basically indoctrinated into hating a woman I knew nothing about, because she was "the slut who slept with the president. the sinner. the whore." As I got older I grew to question my elders more, and decided that most things they had made into a big deal, were probably not as world shaking as I had been led to believe, so Monica kinda fell off the radar for me. I never considered her feelings in the matter, because in my head, she was just a face that people would throw tomatoes at, and nothing more. This interview truly opened my eyes to how easy it is to be terrible to someone, just because someone else said it was ok to do so. that to me is now utterly terrifying. I am so glad John Oliver did this piece, because I can now take what i've learned and grow to be a better person from it. To Monica Lewinsky, if you ever see this, we've never actually spoken in any way, and I never actively sought you out to mock you, but I hopped on that hate train all the same. It was never fair to you, and I truely, and wholeheartedly apologize for all the hate you got, but never deserved. You were no different then I am now. A young person, probably still not sure what the hell you are going to do with your life, and did some things that you regret in hindsight, as we all do. If the roles were reversed, and I was put in your position, I would never had been as strong as you were, and as we can all clearly see, still are to this day. I have been given a lot to think about from watching this interview, and I thank you for showing me that even what you may think is the most cut and dry story, always has more than one side to be told.

  • Well yeah, Women are like Dogs in a way. Lots Bark, few bite. And either way if you look at them just the wrong way or a second too long from their view they turn agressive ... unless its family. Not that men are any better in that regard, just more tolerating ... inmagine Men being Cats instead. Exept not so much Scratching than Mewowing nowdays. Belive me the Scratching is also still done by women if the doglike criteria apply and its done by another woman. With exeptions.

  • I agree that making fun of someone who does something really dumb is necessary, but at some point it's too far, and too much.

  • I feel bad for Monica and how the media and the public went after her. I mean yeah she did a bad, slutty thing but Bill Clinton is also a douchebag who cheated on his wife. However, and this might offend some people here and is contrarian, but Last Week Tonight isn't a comedy show. It's a some type of news/informative show with some (pardon me for this) bad jokes in between. Jay Leno was a standup comedian with lots of experience before he started his Tonight Show. That show was a comedy show. And comedians push the envelope and sometimes say stuff that's considered offensive to us and may sometimes be uninformed. But that's OK and comedy should stay that way. People are only going after Leno harder than others because he stole the show from Conan. Just get over that. And if Conan (don't get me wrong, I love Coco) was so good, he wouldn't be replaced. Also the fact that her name got attached to the scandal wasn't sexist, it was only logical - Clinton, as all others, didn't have just one scandal, so to say 'The Bill Clinton Scandal' would be stupid and indefinitive.

  • Except that Tucker Carlson didn't say that about all Iraqis, compared a generalized attribute of dogs to a generalized attribute of women rather than compare their value, merit, or dignity (if someone said I had hearing or smelling ability like a dog it would be a major compliment), and never excused Warren Jeffs' child abuse because at the time Jeffs had only been convicted of a single criminal act, marrying two teenagers. One slight above the age of consent, one slightly below. For which Jeffs received a life sentence. So the criticism there that the punishment doesn't fit the crime is valid. Finally, all these comments were made on a shock-jock comedy show called "Bubba the Love Sponge". John Oliver has said things in the name of comedy that out if context would sound worse. Like in this video, where after giving those three false pieces of evidence he then makes a joke that most people fervently desire the death of Tucker Carlson. The joke was that if most people could use a wish to be with anyone living or dead, they would use it to murder Tucker Carlson. I am disgusted. Oliver is not a moral person. He's a hypocritical scumbag who is happy to unjustly ruin people's lives and in his video purportedly condemning immoral shaming he commits the very offense. *Shame on you, John Oliver.*

  • We luv ya man!

  • It makes me really mad when people start public shaming before we even get the full story. Like, that person COULD STILL BE INNOCENT. Don't ruin the life of an innocent person!

  • Shes so funny and strong what a person

  • Sorry, but she was a consenting adult, was excited to flirt with the Pres and get his attention, didn't care he was married. Just own it. She didn't change her name because she still likes the fame that goes with it. She could have legally changed her name if she really wanted a new start, but she didn't because she knew she could eventually monetize it.

  • Who cares what this sellout has to say. Mainstream media garbage.

  • I think Monica Lewinsky is the epitome of #meToo. She was 22, her boss was the president, and she got torn apart publicly for it.

  • Even though John Oliver admitted his roll he is still a hypocrite for attacking Jay Leno for something he did as well.

  • God if you don't want to be slut shamed, don't be a slut. Don't normalize terrible behavior.

  • #teamlewinsky

  • Damn I turned 22 a day before this video went up...

  • She broke her wrist and her insurance wouldn't cover her "massive" expenses? 0.o

  • She is such a powerful and wonderful woman, impressive!

  • The people in the comments celebrating the shaming of Jay Leno and the Clintons might not have internalized the core message of this episode.

  • You can tell, like it's all over her face, that this is STILL difficult to talk about for her. Cannot even imagine that, I mean I can, but I can't imagine the scope of it all. All the respect in the world to her, all of it!

  • Monica is my role model for sure.

  • This was pretty fantastic. Thanks for putting it out in the world.

  • Donald trump would have been impeached if this was in the 90s

  • John Oliver specifically said, that i am, unlike all the other 22 years old, not an idiot. I am so honored. ;)

  • Why is this shit, jimmy kimmel and late night tv host always trending? This shit is for tv not for RU-tv. Isn’t RU-tv suppose to be for individuals not shitty ass corporation from tv?!?! I wanna find new youtubers not shitty tv hosts

  • Thank you 😊

  • Everyone should look up the story of Jarred Ha. He was a University of Washington student who was assaulted by a group of female rugby players. He swung back in self-defense, and was brutally assaulted by another student named Graham Harper. Ha stabbed Harper in self-defense, but the media portrayed it as though Ha was the aggressor and Harper was chivalrously defending the women. Ha was arrested, had to go through trial, and was ultimately criminally exonerated, but media reports mostly refused to correct their narrative.

  • Omg it wasn’t sexist bitch you gave him fellatio

  • Well done Alvin!

  • Leno sucks

  • She was definitely on the receiving end... & JOHN OLIVER IS CLEARLY PISSED THAT LATE NIGHT COMEDY NOW SUCKS & HE WILL NEVER BE AS POPULAR AS JAY LENO!

    • Popular? When the world had 2 choices? Grow up little white man lol

  • As somebody who's around the age of 22, I can confirm that I am in fact a complete idiot.

  • 5:53 onwards. Take a look at those faces. There is something seriously wrong with American people. Inbreeding, probably.

  • I would like to see Monica move on from the scandal, someway along the lines of of getting married and making a few babies, opening a lingerie business or clothing line.

  • This guy is a pompous ass. "You can totally harass people, as long as they think like us". You people are sheep.

  • Wow, it’s not often that you see John laugh!

  • Be proud Monica. We all make mistakes. You have grown to be a remarkable woman.

  • story on public shaming. Not one mention of Mark Meechan

  • You knew what a president, a dick and a marriage is. I think Dick Cheney was in the Whitehouse intern program, he let his time there take his soul too. Sorry family, she was on a political course when she fallated in the first. I don't trust fuckin word out of her face. We all want to matter.Placate if you want JOHN.

  • Uncommonly free from both too-long jokes and from jokes that belittle the importance of the topic. Solid, overall. I still remember John joking about online harassment with weird rando comments about him and was expecting something like that, but was pleasantly surprised by the sobriety and dignity throughout.

  • Fuck this was good episode. I can't thank you enough for this topic and with Monica. She is a great beacon of the strength of people.

  • Public shaming and cancel culture are toxic

  • I love that the show covered this, because I've seen people commenting on this for at least the past few months, and I'm glad this issue is finally gaining traction.

  • Shes kinda inspiring and now a pretty strong human being. And well, i don't get The shame on her thing anyways, but i was not around at the time so i don't know if i would wrote her a nice, maybe empowering letter und would Just made Up Jokes with friends. Depending on the stage of development i guess

  • Hey, SJW fuckwads, start taking notes you overly sensitive pieces of crap!

  • Leftist shill

  • You stand next to a table, put the wine down and eat like a normal person John.

  • The shortcomings of western culture. But hey, white people are the best

  • Tucker Carlson definetly f’s his roomba 🧐

  • She's so well-spoken, and has surprisingly come out of that horrible experience doing rather well. I don't doubt that it was a truly staggering amount of courage to just power through all of that and still come out the other side with a sense of humor and to try and be a voice talking out against bullying.

  • Geez... that would suck

  • Media would’ve made it better because there would’ve been a million scandals before and after her. Look at the shit show we deal with today.

  • Listening to Monica Lewinsky talking about how she overcame all the vicious public ridicule and shaming she received over many years is truly inspiring. Thank you, John, for doing this interview.

  • Funny thing is he said he and Jay talking about her. Why didn't he show his clip from the daily show?

  • things Tucker had said are being taken out of context though...

  • It’s weird how almost all of the examples in this video are of people on the right doing the shaming. The left is *notorious* for public shaming. It honestly must have been a chore to tip-toe around all of that. Oliver clearly knows his audience. It’s very misguided and honestly annoying as fuck, but he knows his audience.

  • Sub to PewDiePie

  • If you’re reading this I hope you have an amazing day

  • Damn, everyone is turning into snowflakes, hope Jay Leno fucks him up
